IBM’s new processor core, the PowerPC® 476FP, lays claim as the industry’s highest performing embedded processor for OEM System-on-Chip designs. Even at clock speeds exceeding 1.6GHz, it pulls just 1.6 watts when on 45nm SOI. LSI Corporation, which collaborated on the development, will use the new core for its next-generation multicore platform architecture for networking applications.
